Wasserski-EM-Medaillen für Start Up Sport- Newcomerin
Lisa Gusenbauer (Union WSV Linz-Donau), die seit heuer dem Start Up Sport-Talentekader angehört, war bei der U17-Europameisterschaft im spanischen Sesena von 9. bis 13. August in Höchstform und holte sich mit einem sensationellen Rennen im Finale die Gold-Medaille im Slalom.
Bereits vier Tage später ging’s für die frisch gebackene U17-Europameisterin weiter zur U21-Europameisterschaft in Bordeaux. Auch hier zeigte sie in einer Altersklasse über ihrer eigenen wieder auf und sicherte sich in ihrer Paradedisziplin den ausgezeichneten 3. Platz und somit eine weitere EM-Medaille. Ganz nach Wunsch lief es bei den U21-EM-Bewerben in Frankreich auch für ihren Cousin Dominik Kuhn. Der 19-Jährige „Routinier“ von der Union WSV Linz-Donau sicherte sich in der Disziplin „Trick“ die Goldmedaille – seine erste bei Europameisterschaften.
Angetrieben von diesem Erfolg zeigte Kuhn, dass er es auch in der Kombination drauf hat und erreichte dank einem sechsten Platz im Slalom und einem zehnten Rang im Springen mit Gesamtrang drei seine insgesamt neunte EM-Medaille. Erfreulich lief es für Kuhn auch im Teambewerb, in dem das Herrenteam die Silbermedaille für Österreich eroberte.

My first ever medal at a European Championship – sparkling in gold.
The feeling of stepping onto the top of the podium, hearing my name as European Champion, and watching the flag rise — it was simply indescribable. It wasn’t just about that one run or that one day. It was about all the hours of training, the setbacks, the sacrifices, the early mornings, and the moments of doubt I’d worked through to get there. That gold medal represented so much more than just a win — it was proof that dedication truly does pay off.
But what made this moment even more emotional was having my family there with me. My parents have been by my side from the very beginning, supporting me through every phase of this journey. They’ve driven me to training, cheered me on, encouraged me when things got tough, and celebrated every small victory along the way.
I’ll never forget the look on my dad’s face when he realized I’d won. He was so proud — and visibly emotional, which, for him, doesn’t happen often. Seeing him wipe away tears and just stand there smiling made everything feel even more real. That moment — being able to share that joy with him — is one I’ll hold onto for the rest of my life. It was a victory for all of us.
Winning that gold medal wasn’t just a highlight — it was a turning point. It gave me the belief that I truly belonged in this sport, that I had what it takes to compete at the highest level. It fueled my drive even more, and from that moment on, I knew this was only the beginning.
I’ll always look back at that competition with a full heart. It was an incredible experience that reminded me why I love waterskiing so much — the thrill, the challenge, the joy, and the people who make it all worthwhile.
That first gold medal will forever be one of the most unforgettable moments of my life — and the memory of it still motivates me every single day.
